How Green is Your Herb? Energy Use and Cannabis
Time & Location
About The Event
Happy September Cannabis Professionals!
This time of year I often find myself trying to squeeze the last bit of summer out of each day, all the while secretly looking forward to the first signs of Autumn! Before we go flipping on our heaters and ovens, let's learn a bit about how we use energy, and in particular how the cannabis industry is utilizing it's energy.
Growing marijuana indoors tends to be a very energy-intensive and greenhouse gas emissions-intensive process. This month, Brad Smith will illuminate the often neglected topic of energy use with recent data and trends from Boulder County cultivation facilities. We will end on a high note through sharing best practices and behavior change which can lower the energy demand and cost of a grow operation.
Brad Smith is a sustainability specialist for Boulder County helping to build, operate, and communicate Boulder County sustainability services. He manages the Boulder County Energy Impact Offset Fund working with marijuana cultivators to offset their high energy intensity through energy efficiency, renewable energy, policy, and other offset projects. He works in a number of other areas including home sustainability, business sustainability, and environmental education.
